Jennifer Lopez, 51, radiates on-screen chemistry with Maluma in Marry Me, showcasing the true essence of J-Lo: a down-to-earth girl who values living, laughing, and keeping it real.

Jennifer Lopez is excited about her upcoming project for 2021: a movie titled Marry Me featuring Maluma and Owen Wilson, along with a soundtrack. In a recent interview with Billboard for their 2020 Latin Power Players issue, the 51-year-old singer and actress opened up about the romantic comedy, sharing that it holds a special place in her heart. “It was a bit of a therapeutic experience for me. I was portraying a character who is searching for someone who truly understands and accepts her for who she is, beyond her public persona,” Lopez revealed. “Just like a regular girl, which is how I see myself. People often see you as a celebrity and forget that you’re just a human who craves a sense of normalcy, wanting to live, laugh, and enjoy life.”

Up next for Jenny: Jennifer Lopez is already discussing her upcoming project for 2021, the movie Marry Me featuring Maluma. In a recent interview with Billboard for their 2020 Latin Power Players issue, the actress opened up about the romantic comedy, sharing that it holds a special place in her heart. Jennifer and Maluma previously collaborated on the songs Pa’ Ti and Lonely, but their roles in Marry Me will go beyond that – portraying an engaged couple who share the stage together. Unlike her typical J-Lo albums, the movie’s soundtrack will be custom-tailored to fit the storyline. “We had the script, and then we picked places where we would like to put the music. You can’t have a movie about two pop stars who are performing and not have a soundtrack,” the Hustlers star explained. However, creating the album posed a challenge as she wasn’t producing a typical J.Lo record but rather writing songs that complement the narrative. “I was writing songs for the story. So while I was on tour, I had submissions from every producer and writer, and we listened to a hundred songs to get seven or eight,” she shared. Maluma added, “Everything happened very quickly. When I found out I was going to be part of the project, we immediately began writing songs. I was in Colombia and brought over one of my producers – Edgar Barrera – and we started working on this song, ‘Segundo.'” Jennifer expressed her happiness in having two Latin stars lead the film Marry Me.

On the cover, Jennifer expressed, “I just want to be seen as a real girl, not just a star. People often forget that at the end of the day, I’m just a normal girl who wants to live, laugh, and be happy.” Reflecting on her career, she mentioned, “In my 25 years of being in the movies and doing over 40 films, I’ve only had Latino costars in three or four movies. So it’s not very common.” Lopez also shared that her production company aimed to have an international star alongside her to create a bilingual album, highlighting the importance of diversity in her career. Looking ahead, Lopez is optimistic about the success of Spanish language songs, stating, “Music is a universal language that can be understood by anyone, unlike films which have limitations. Rhythm and melody transcend boundaries.” As a mother to twins Max and Emme, aged 12, she hopes to continue breaking down barriers and showcasing the different characters she can portray in her work.

Exciting news ahead: The soundtrack for the upcoming movie won’t just be your typical compilation of songs by J-Lo, but instead, it will be tailored to fit the storyline of the film. The star of “Hustlers” mentioned, “We had the script first, and then we selected specific moments where we wanted to incorporate the music. You can’t have a film about two pop stars performing without a killer soundtrack.” Reflecting on the music scene, she reminisced about the “Latin explosion” era with artists like Marc Anthony, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Enrique Iglesias, and herself, saying it was a breakthrough moment for Latin artists in mainstream America. She highlighted the significance of Spanish-language music gaining more recognition now, emphasizing the impact of artists and genres like reggaeton and trap music. While discussing her plans for a Spanish-language album, J-Lo also teased the possibility of a collaboration with Maluma and hinted at a potential tour in the works. The future looks bright and full of exciting music ventures for the multi-talented artist.

Jennifer highlighted that her Latin roots have played a significant role in her career. She proudly embraces her Puerto Rican heritage from the Bronx and believes it has positively impacted her journey in the entertainment industry. Not only does she enjoy singing in Spanish, but she also feels more connected to her music when she sings in her native language. In fact, Jennifer disclosed that she is continuously working on a Spanish album, although she admits that she is taking her time to ensure it is released at the perfect moment. Despite spending three years crafting the album, she is determined to wait until the timing feels just right before sharing it with the world.

He shared his experience by saying, “Maluma expressed, ‘It all happened so quickly. Once I found out I was going to be involved in the project, we immediately started working on songs. I was in Colombia at the time, and I brought one of my producers, Edgar Barrera, with me.'” Regarding her unique style and approach in the industry, she explained, “From the beginning, I believed that my individuality set me apart from other actresses. I believe it has been the key to my success.” When it comes to managing her various projects in music, film, fashion, and beyond, she revealed her strategy, “I handle tasks based on their urgency. Some days I focus on producing, others on acting, making music, touring, or managing my beauty businesses like skincare and perfumes. I’ve learned to compartmentalize my time effectively,” shared the talented performer who rocked the Super Bowl stage.

Creating magic together, the duo have previously collaborated on the hit songs Pa’ Ti and Lonely. Lopez shared that spending the past few months in lockdown with her fiancé Alex Rodriguez and their four kids has been a positive experience. Reflecting on this time at home with her 12-year-old twins Emme and Max, J-Lo expressed how special it has been. She mentioned that artists often fear that taking a break will affect their career, but she learned that it’s important to have faith in yourself and prioritize things that truly matter – like spending time with family. Lopez emphasized the importance of taking the time to focus on what’s important, even if it means delaying the release of a new album.
